A family of around 400 living species and subspecies inhabiting warm waters around the globe with the largest species diversity in the tropical region of the indo-pacific.  Cowrie shells have a long relationship with humans having been used as money and adorning many native masks, ornaments and costumes.  Often viewed as a fertility symbol.  

Gastropoda is a class of molluscs that includes snails and slugs. They are a diverse group found in marine, freshwater, and terrestrial environments. 

Gastropoda is the largest class of molluscs, with over 65,000 species. Most gastropods have a coiled or conical shell, though some, like slugs, have a reduced or absent shell. Shells range in size from from less than 1mm to 600mm.

Bivalvia is a class of aquatic molluscs (marine and freshwater) that have laterally compressed soft bodies enclosed by a hinged pair of half-shells known as valves. 

Polyplacophora are a class of marine molluscs, known as chitons, sea cradles or coat-of-mail shells.  

Scaphopoda, also known as tusk shells or tooth shells, are a class of marine Molluscs with worldwide distribution, and are the only class of molluscs that is exclusively infaunal (living in marine sediment). There are approximately 500 living species within the class ranging in length from 50mm to 180mm.

Cephalopoda are the most intelligent, most mobile, and the largest of all classes of molluscs. Cephalopoda include the squid, octopuses, cuttlefish, the nautilus.  There are around 800 species of extant cephalopoda and 17,000 named extinct (fossil) species.  Their size ranges from 1cm to over 20 m in length. Large squid species can weigh up to 700 kilograms.
