Harpidae
The Harpidae, known as the harp snails, are the members of a family of large predatory marine gastropod molluscs that live in tropical seas. There are less than 50 known living species. Harpidae, especially the Genus Morum, are very popular with shell collectors. Species in the Genus Harpa are generally shallow water species, Morum and Austroharpa, the third Genus in Harpidae, are mostly deep water species.
The size of Harpidae shells range from 20mm-130mm. Morum and Austroharpa are much smaller than most Harpa species. Harpa major is the largest of the Harpidae.
