A very deep water species, usually heavily scarred from attempted predation. This population from 780m, is generally less scarred which suggests that it exists deeper than the predators of the shallower water specimens. With periostracum and operculum.
WHY CHOOSE US
Because each shell is backed by 50 years of successful trading and selling shells, with thousands of happy customers. If you are unhappy with any shells that I supply you can return for full credit or refund, no questions asked. I have a very wide range of species available, and not just from the more popular families. I have spent many years searching dived and dredged grit, as well as the stomach contents of commercially caught fish, for uncommon and rare smaller species, available from no-one else. Over the years I have supplied many well known dealers in Europe and the US with South African shells.
Where possible, I source shells directly from the fishermen and divers, so the collecting information is detailed and correct, and I can usually sell at competitive prices. Shells have been my lifelong passion.
